ABOUT 

Denim Chakma is a Documentary Photographer based in Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh where he was born in the early '90s. He passed his childhood in Rangamati. When he started his university life, he decided to attend a Diploma in Photography course from Alliance Française de Dhaka. After completing a Diploma in  Photography course, he has started Professional Photography Course from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute. 

To him, photography is the interpretation of his psychological and emotional thoughts and his images are belongings of alternative expressions and undiscovered realities.​ 

Denim had always fascinated on people's untold stories and the surrounding crises. He would like to introduce himself as an indigenous person in Bangladesh. He would like to explore it with mythologies, anthropology, sociology, economy, geopolitics, and the current political climate. During his photographic journey, he got the opportunity to attend workshop on “Challenges of working as a Freelance Photojournalist” by Mary O’Shea and Shahidul Alam, 'Working Internationally: Strategies and Methodologies' by AFP local bureau chief, and 'Storytelling' by Brent Stirton, 'Your Photojournalism Survival Kit' by Ron Haviv, 'Portraits: Psychological and Anthropological' by Jan Banning, He also attended workshops  Munem Wasif, Phillip Blenkinsop, and Max Pam.

He's also working as a Staff Photojournalist for a  local News Agency. Denim is now working on the "State oppression on indigenous peoples" issues and developing his personal project on various social issues as a freelancer.
